Dongruokdala Girls Football Club

Dongruokdala Girls Football Club (DGFC) is the latest initiative by Dongruokdala Community-Based Organization (CBO), aimed at empowering young girls in the rural communities. Catering to girls aged 13 to 18, the club provides a safe and supportive environment where participants can engage in sports, access mentorship, and receive essential hygiene products, including free sanitary pads. 

Launched in partnership with the Global Peace Foundation Kenya and supported by local leaders and philanthropists, DGFC addresses critical challenges such as period poverty and early pregnancies, which often hinder girls’ educational opportunities. By combining sports with access to sanitary products, the club ensures that girls stay in school, build self-confidence, and develop life skills such as teamwork, discipline, and leadership. 

Through regular football tournaments and mentorship programs, DGFC not only promotes physical activity but also fosters a sense of community and belonging among its members. The initiative has already shown positive impacts, with girls reporting improved school attendance, renewed hope, and a stronger focus on their future goals.
